Mirador wanted a space that matched their culture: everyone in the office collaborating and innovating, working hard and playing hard. With a relatively young staff, it was important to make them want to come into the office rather than force them. To that end we created a wide array of different types of meeting spaces, lounge areas, private rooms, open collaboration areas, game areas, phone booths, a boardroom, and benching desks. At the center of it all are two double-height, well-appointed spaces where people can congregate, relax, blow off some steam, or just have the occasional chance meeting. One is a pantry with polished concrete floors, decorative lighting, banquette seating and a beautiful blue tile wall. The other a “Beverage Bar” with a coffee station, beer taps, a soda fountain, and refrigerators to hold any assortment beverages. The floors are wood to warm up the space, and the seating is either at the bar or in a more relaxed lounge setting. The client was so happy with the space that we have designed a second floor for them.
