ITT
STAMFORD, CT
For ITT’s Global Headquarters the CEO wanted a space that was collaborative, open, transparent, and welcoming… a space that would encourage people to come into the office and promote a culture of innovation. To that end we designed a space that was 100% open plan (no offices), while at the same time making it dense with conference rooms of all sizes as well as phone booths, interview rooms, a wellness room, and “zoom rooms”. This gave people an option to have meetings, take private phone calls, videoconference in many different settings and with different sized groups, and just do heads-down work if needed. Rather than a reception area we created a multi-purpose room that can accommodate various functions such as town halls, receptions, parties, and a breakout for the Boardroom. This multi-purpose room adjoins a large pantry, which was intentionally placed such that everyone can enjoy stunning views of the Sound, and welcomes people to enjoy the expansive coffee bar, a variety of seating options, and informal meeting areas, further encouraging chance meetings and collaboration. It is our belief, and the research shows, that it is giving people the comforts that they have at home, while also giving them things they cannot have at home (large meeting spaces, impressive client-appropriate meeting spaces, live interaction, technology, etc.), that will encourage them back to the office, while simultaneously greatly increasing a firm’s attraction and retention.
